Glenn Beck hosts black conservatives

I thought I’d share this video.  It’s an excerpt from Glenn Beck’s show where he hosted a number of so called black conservatives.  This is a four-part show and the other parts can be pulled up on youtube.  This segment is fairly representative of the other parts.

I have a few observations:

  • Glenn Beck’s most recent claim to fame was his accusation that President Obama was a racist.  That comment caused an uproar and resulted in pressure on advertisers.  No doubt, this is a thinly veiled attempt for him to get some “cover” to lessen the pressure on the advertisers as well as himself.

  • Some of the conservatives raise some legitimate points of concern.  There’s room in the African-American community for conservative views.  The problem is that most black conservatives aren’t engaged enough in the community to express or promote their views.

  •  Why does it take Glenn Beck to organize a group of black conservatives voice their views?  Why does it take anyone other than African-Americans to organize a group of us to talk to each other? This is a debate that needs to take place within the community and not on national TV.  This is a very good example of how someone organizes African-Americans to serve their interests rather than our own.  It doesn’t matter the political bent or persuasion of the African-Americans in question as the same thing occurs on the liberal side of the political spectrum as well.

  • Black folks can not afford to get caught up in the imaginary bi-polar political world of liberal vs conservative or even  democrat vs republican as labels don’t define the totality of our interests.  We need to act and vote on our interests regardless of where they fall on the political spectrum.

  • The media generally is very deceptive and it’s objective is to influence one’s thinking in a certain way.  I’m reminded of this quote from Malcolm on thinking for yourself–“see for yourself and listen for yourself and think for yourself. Then you can come to an intelligent decision for yourself. But if you form the habit of going by what you hear others say about someone, or going by what others think about someone, instead of going and searching that thing out for yourself and seeing for yourself, you will be walking west when you think you’re going east, and you will be walking east when you think you’re going west. So this generation, especially of our people, have a burden upon themselves, more so than at any other time in history. The most important thing we can learn how to do today is think for ourselves.”

Some operatives will read your post – make note of the LACK of attack on Beck and Black Conservatives and pigeon hole you right from this point on.

I agree with you on the need for infrastructure as the only way to nullify the force of ideological entrenchment.

At the same time it is a mandate that we make note of the INCUMBENCY of a given ideology within our people. I can’t accept that there is equal footing at this point. One machine made promises of what our community would receive IF we allowed them to take over all of our key institutions.

I am only willing to deal if they make use of this knowledge and the need to ‘come clean’ for our community by agreeing to submit themselves to a higher order.

Those of us who are watching this all transpire used to believe that once an entity has control – executes and there remains massive problems that “fairness” would have them deposed and a replacement put in. This is not the case. Thus I am a bit skeptical of the integrity of those who I would need to engage with.

Only a transparent entity placed between our ideologies and our “protected racial nucleus” will suffice.
